From the Grand Marais Public Library - May 13, 2020

Last month, Grand Marais Public Library invited the Cook County community to participate in One Book | One Minnesota, a new statewide book club and discussion for Minnesotans of all ages. A date has been set for an online discussion with author Kate DiCamillo. The free Zoom event will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 1 PM. Registration is required and provides participants the opportunity to submit a question to Kate ahead of the discussion. The registration form for the virtual discussion is available on Grand Marais Public Library’s website near the event announcement.

The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, as the Minnesota Center for the Book, launched this community read to bring Minnesotans together during a challenging time and highlight the role of libraries as community connectors. It’s not too late to start reading.

Because of Winn-Dixie was chosen for its broad appeal. It is geared for youth but accessible across age groups. In it, ten-year-old India Opal Buloni goes down to the local supermarket for some groceries and instead comes home with a dog. But Winn-Dixie is no ordinary dog, and this is where the story really begins.

There are multiple ways to access the book. Ebooks Minnesota is providing free digital copies of Because of Winn-Dixievia the library’s website: grandmaraislibrary.org. The library is circulating the title and expecting more copies to arrive soon. Drury Lane Books is accepting online book orders and will deliver books to your door within Grand Marais.
