As of April 29, the Cook County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has received 1,017 hand-sewn cloth face coverings for the COVID-19 preparatory effort, officials announced today.

Additional donations include 143 N95 masks, 540 procedure/surgical masks, 92 face shields, 32 headbands, 23 thermometers, 12 boxes of gloves and one Tyvek suit. To date, a total of $4,650 in monetary donations has been made by community members to the North Shore Health Care Foundation for the COVID-19 Medical Response Fund. The Foundation will match up to $20,000 in donations from the community.

"The outpouring of support has been incredible," said Chief Logistics Officer Lori Ericson. "Donors include not only fulltime residents but also many who think of Cook County as their second home. We are both humbled and grateful."

The number of supplies needed continues to expand, Ericson stated, as items such as cloth face coverings, face shields and N95 masks are being used by local healthcare and community workers.
