Watching the lake disappear on your favorite lake. It’s an annual rite of spring in Minnesota.

We earn our springs and summers in Minnesota. Spring in Minnesota is the promise that summer keeps.

Early ice out

Most lakes in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities are now ice-free. There are even a few ice-free lakes north of the Twin Cities now. You can check your favorite lake here.

Many southern Minnesota lakes are seeing ice cover vanish one to two weeks earlier than average this spring. Twin Cities bellwether lakes White Bear and Minnetonka went out Thursday, April 2. That’s nine days earlier than the long-term average

Mild into next week

Milder air returns this weekend into next week. The weather pattern favors more ice-out reports from central Minnesota over the next week.
