March 4, 2020 Media Release from Kate & Jeremy Keeble:

Last week, February 26th was Norman Deschampe Day. In celebration we decided to donate 25% of our Thursday sales at Hungry Hippie Tacos to the Grand Portage Elders. We saw a lot of our beloved community members come in to support the cause. Bent Paddle Brewing from Duluth sent a representative to hand out free merchandise for the event!! After the lunch rush, our fellow business owners at Java Moose asked if they could contribute 25% of their sales!! Today we learned that our local bank, Grand Marais State Bank was going to match both Hungry Hippie Tacos & Java Moose's contributions!!! We will be presenting a check to the Grand Portage Elders and members of Norman Deschmpe's family today!! We were able to raise $1535.00 to contribute, and were contacted by other local businesses who want to make this a permanent happening in celebration of Norman Deschampe Day!!

From their social media ad:
February 26th is NORMAN DESCHAMPE DAY!! In celebration we're DONATING 25% of THURSDAY SALES to the GRAND PORTAGE ELDERS!! Join us this week in supporting our neighbors to the north!!

FUN FACT- Jeremy ( Hungry Hippie founder), lived and worked in Grand Portage. In his 8 years of employment there, he saw Norman not only as a friend and great teller of fishing tales, but also as a great mentor and leader. AND the Grand Portage Elders kept Jeremy well fed, with approximately 2000 lunches consumed during his 8 years of employment there!!! Thanks for your support!!! Cheers!!!
