Minnesota’s oldest craft brewery is closed and on the market.

Lake Superior Brewing, located in Duluth’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, is listed for sale by Minneapolis-based commercial real estate agency, Calhoun Companies.

The website listing, which doesn’t specifically name the brewery, includes a sale price of just over $1.1M for an “established brewery and taproom”.

The brewery’s social media accounts have been mostly silent since early December.

Calls to Lake Superior Brewing have gone unanswered and as of Friday, the outside door to the taproom and brewery remain locked.

As of publishing, the former owners had not responded to requests for comment.

When reached via email in early December, the Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division told KBJR-TV it was working to renew the brewery’s liquor license “as it has expired”.

Lars Kuehnow and Lisa Blade purchased the 25-year-old brewery from its original owners in October 2017.

Under the new owners, the brewery expanded distribution of its microbrews to several new markets and rolled out canned beer.

The brewery, established in 1994, is known for beers like Kayak Kolsch and has won numerous awards.
