January Activities at North Shore Health

Dec 30, 2019 12:28PM ● By Editor

The Christmas season was full of joy, music, and memorable moments for the residents of North Shore Health. There was plenty of their favorite holiday foods and treats, gift giving, and time with family and friends. The residents want to thank the American Legion Auxiliary, the Cook County Girl Scouts, North Shore Health employees, and all the other community members who helped make this a very happy and joyous holiday season.

We have a lot of fun indoor activities planned for those cold and snowy days of January. There will be baking activities, crafting fun, movies, and lots of game fun. We are anxious to try out some of those new games that Santa brought us for Christmas!

The monthly birthday party will be held on Wednesday January 8 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Jean Roberts and Irene Peterson. There will be cake and ice cream for everyone, and Doug Sanders will be her to play our favorite piano tunes.

The Grand Marais W.I.S.E. group will host a social on January 18th starting at 3:00 p.m. at North Shore Living.

Portage Band will be back on January 25 at 6:30 p.m. to treat us to an evening of country music. Other music this month features Myron Bursheim on Sunday afternoons, Susan Scherer on Wednesday afternoons, and a sing-a-long with Pastor Daren Blanck on Monday January 20th at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend any of our music events.

January 19-25 is National Activity Professionals week-a time to recognize how meaningful activities enrich the quality of life at any age. It is also a time to acknowledge the valuable role the Activity Department staff, and the many volunteers who make our programs happen all year long. We could not do it without you!

A “Winter Warmth” block party will be held on Tuesday January 28 at 2:00 p.m. for residents and their families. Hot cocoa and treats will be served to beat off those winter blues!

An outing to The Hub is planned for January 30 for lunch, and visiting with all our friends there.

The residents and staff of North Shore Health wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year!
