Holiday Activities at North Shore Health Care Center

From Boreal Community Media - December 3, 2019

The spirit of giving is always in season at North Shore Health thanks to the numerous volunteers who have shared their talent and time with us. The residents count their blessings for family, friends, employees, the community churches, and community members who also give so much.

We also sincerely thank the American Legion Honor Guard who came to North Shore Living on Veteran’s Day to honor our Veterans.

December will be a busy month with a lot of fun activities. The residents are putting the final touches on their crafts for the annual Resident Council Sale to be held on December 13 at North Shore Living. There will also be a “LuLaRoe” clothing sale on December 10th. This sale gives residents and staff an opportunity to purchase some new holiday clothes or to purchase gifts for family and friends.

The holidays always brings an abundance of musical joy to our home. There will be church, school, and community carolers throughout the month, along with holiday sing-a-longs. Roxann Berglund and Briand Morrison will bring their delightful music to the Care Center on December 17 at 2:00 p.m. Myron Bursheim will play for us on December 15th, 22nd, and 29th at 2:30 p.m. Susan Scherer will play piano on Wednesday afternoons at 4:30 p.m.

The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on December 11 to honor Ruby Anderson, Erland Shold, and Gloria Martineau. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. along with piano music by Doug Sanders. Family and friends are most welcome to join us.

The residents will be able to enjoy one of their favorite Scandinavian treats on December 16 when Hilja Iverson will be here demonstrating her skill at making lefse.

There’s nothing like the aroma of cookies baking in the oven, and we will be making some of our favorites to enjoy and share with family and friends over the holidays.

A couple of outings are planned for the residents, thanks to the Arrowhead Transit drivers who keep us on the go  every season of the year! Several residents will attend the Community Concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on December 9th. We will also be going to The Hub for lunch on December 19th.

The annual Christmas Eve party will be held on December 24th at 1:30 p.m. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and some of his elves will be stopping in with gifts for all. There will be plenty of Christmas cookies for all to enjoy too. Families are encouraged to join us for this fun afternoon.

A dinner theatre will be held on New Year’s Eve featuring the classic film, Holiday Inn. This has become a favorite event with our residents to welcome in the New Year.

The residents and staff at North Shore Health want to wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
