It's now been five years since Kwik Trip started to have a presence in the Northland. And since then, they've grown and grown. According to the company's website, there are now almost 30 in the region, between northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. And leaders said they employ over 500 people here.
We stopped at the one in Hermantown close to Cirrus, where plenty of Cirrus employees were stopping by on their lunch break. "It's convenient. The food is always hot. The prices are good. The coffee's always good," shared Jared Woolven, who lives in Moose Lake.
Casey Gobell added, "I literally come here every day. They have hot food. Cold food you can heat up. Fountain drinks, can drinks."
He was the keynote speaker at the Hermantown Area Chamber annual meeting. And he highlighed their mission focused culture. "It's about the people, the relationships," he told the crowd.
The first three questions that applicants get asked are about random acts of kindness and how people have treated others. "You can train people to do the job. But you can't train what's in their heart." He also mentioned the importance of recognition.
As for any new Kwik Trips, Wrobel would only say their real estate department is always looking for good opportunities.
