From the Cook County Sheriff's Office and Public Safety Facebook Page - November 14, 2019

To ensure that the City and County staff are able to effectively remove snow from City streets and roads, Grand Marais City Council has adopted Ordinance 2019-02.  From November 15th through April 15th of each year:

On-street parking is prohibited downtown between Lake Superior and Highway 61 on Broadway Ave, 1st Ave. W, 2nd Ave. W, Wisconsin St. and 1st St. between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Within the city limits vehicles parked on the street between midnight and 5:00 p.m. must be parked on the odd side of the street on odd days (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.) and the even side of the street on even days (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.).

More specifically, avenues run north and south, while streets run east and west. the east side of the avenues is the even side, the west side of the avenue is the odd side. The south side of the street is the even side and the north side of the street is the odd side.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office will be patrolling for compliance and if vehicles are found to be in violation, the CCSO staff will attempt to contact the registered owner and place a reminder on the windshield. These are not considered citations and should not be treated as such. If vehicles are found to be non-compliant numerous times, they will be cited and towed under MN State Statute 168B.035.
