Tim Young has been at Cook County Schools for two years now, but is in a new role of School Nurse this year.  Learn a bit about Tim's interesting story below:

What do you like best about living in Cook County?
More than 30 years ago, I was living in Detroit, and I came to Grand Marais for a job interview.  It was September.  I went for a hike up Cascade River, and said "I don't care what the job is like, I want to be here."

I love living in Cook County not only for the natural beauty that surrounds us, but for the friendly, helpful people that live here.  It's a wonderful place to raise a family.  During the summer months, we spend a lot of time in my fishing boat.

I especially love my job here at the school.  I love getting to know the students and the teachers and staff here.  You will usually see me at home games.

What surprising fact about you may surprise people?
I grew up in Liberia, West Africa.  My dad ran a hospital there.  It was the best place to grow up!  Our house was right on the beach.  That is where I first became interested in medicine.

Family/personal life/hobbies that you would like to share:
My family is the most important thing to me.  My son Raymond is in 11th grade here, and my grandson Luuka is in Preschool.  This month, we celebrated Raymond's adoption, along with his sister Summer who graduated in the spring.  My older kids graduated in 2000, 2001 and 2015.

I love painting, photography and writing.  Most weekends in the summer and fall, I perform weddings throughout the area.

Tim wishes to announce some wonderful news about his upcoming adoption party:
