Introduction to Minnesota Compass coming Thursday

Oct 08, 2019 03:30PM ● By Editor

Media Release from Cook County MN - October 8, 2019

The Workshop will be presented by Ellen Wolter, Research Scientist with Minnesota Compass and Anne Flueckiger, Minnesota Compass Champion for NE Minnesota

Minnesota Compass is a social indicators project that measures progress in our state by providing nonpartisan, credible education on topics such as education, economy, workforce, health, and housing.

Minnesota Compass developed the 'Build Your Own' geographic profile tool in response from greater Minnesota communities who said they needed better access to data.  The tool allows visitors to the Minnesota Compass website to build, draw, and compare data profiles for geographies of interest such as neighborhood or school district.  The user-friendly tool will be demonstrated during the presentation.

Minnesota Compass and the Build Your Own data tool are unique resources that are invaluable for funders, nonprofits, policymakers, community leaders, and others interested in easily accessing data to build understanding about communities, topics and issues; guide strategic planning; support grant and funding efforts; and inform community conversations.

The workshop is free.  Feel free to bring your lunch.  Light refreshments will be provided.  Thursday, October 24 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais.  Please RSVP at 218-387-3015.

Thank you to the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation for their support of this workshop.
