From North Shore Living - October 1, 2019

The residents of North Shore Living are sorry to see the summer come to an end, but look forward to all the activities that cooler weather brings. The household kitchens are all stocked for some baking fun, and there will be plenty of craft activities gearing up as we prepare for our annual holiday sale to be held in early December. Hopefully, we’ll get some more nice weather to get out on the patios too.

The monthly birthday party will be held on October 9th at 3 p.m. to honor David Groth, Rose Hasegawa, and Janet Ryden. There will be cake and ice cream, and Doug Sanders will be here to play our favorite piano tunes. Family and friends are welcome to join us for the celebration.

The residents will enjoy an afternoon of harvest fun on October 15th. We will start the afternoon with a corn husk doll craft activity.  Afterwards, Hilja will be serving up some pumpkin smoothies for “Harvest Happy Hour”.

An afternoon social time with the W.I.S.E. ladies is planned for October 19th at 3:00 p.m. The residents always enjoy their visits, and the delicious desserts they provide for the event.

Several of our elders took a tour of Maple Hill on October 1st to enjoy the fall colors still on display. Another outing on October 24th will take us to The Hub for lunch.

We have a lot of music planned for this month. Tom Knudson will be at North Shore Living on October 8th at 2:00 p.m. to play for us. Harris Mills will be here on October 10th at 1:30 p.m. The talented Olya Wright will perform for us with violin and piano music on October 14th at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Darin Blanck will host a sing- a- long with the residents on October 21st at 2:00 p.m. The 6th grade choir will be singing for us on October 29th at 11:00 a.m. Myron Bursheim brings his folk music to North Shore Living most Sunday afternoons in October, and Susan Scherer will be here on Wednesday afternoons at 4:30 to play piano for the residents.

October is also Country Music Month, and we look forward to the classic country music that the band Portage will perform on Saturday, October 26th at 6:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to join us for the dance, and any of our music events.

On October 31st at 2:30 p.m. we will have some Halloween Bingo fun. Later that evening, the residents will be passing out treats to the little ones. We always enjoy seeing those costumes, so remember to stop by to “Trick or Treat” at the Care Center between 5-6:30 p.m. on Halloween night.
