Woman Suffers 'Life-Threatening Injuries' in Iron Range ATV vs. Motorcycle Crash

A Twin Cities area woman is seriously injured following a Sunday afternoon crash on the Iron Range that involved an ATV and motorcycle.

It is not known at this time what led to the crash, but the Gilbert Police Department says the crash happened around 5:35 on the 5000 block of Enterprise Trail in Gilbert.

Gilbert Police say the passenger of the ATV, 23-year-old Natasha Diaz-Cruz of Burnsville, was airlifted to Essentia Health in Duluth with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the ATV, a 35-year-old Burnsville man, was not injured in the crash, but the driver of the motorcycle, a 37-year-old man from Hancock, Minnesota, was transported to Essentia Health in Virginia with non-life threatening injuries.  

The case remains under investigation by the Gilbert Police Department and is being assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Gilbert Police Department was assisted on the scene by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Rescue Squad, Eveleth Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Virginia Police Department, Gilbert Fire Department, Virginia Ambulance Service and Fire Department, Gilbert First Responders and North Memorial Air Care.
