From Cook County ISD 166 - August 14. 2019

Dear Cook County Schools Families,

The summer has brought many changes to OUR school this year! The ACA was updated with an improved roof and beautiful new floor in the entryway. Our main hallways in the entryway and middle school and high school have been updated. The custodial crews have been busy painting, deep cleaning and completing maintenance project in and outside of the school. Our building and grounds are looking spectacular and will be ready for our first day of school on September 3rd, 2019.

This summer we have also been busy interviewing applicants for our open positions, taking time to find the best candidate for our students, positions, and school! We will be welcoming new teachers in the 6-12 Spanish position, 6-8 English Language Arts position, Elementary Spanish/ English as a Second Language, Preschool teachers, Early Childhood Special Education, and Culinary Arts Teacher. We also look forward to welcoming back the phenomenal team that will be returning from last year.

As we look forward to the school year, I would like to offer some tips to make the school year productive and as smooth as it can be.

1.      Attendance – Attendance is a crucial part of learning for ALL age students. I want to encourage students and parents to be conscious of how many minutes, hours, and days are missed during the school year. Be sure to check out our policies regarding attendance and know that only missing a few minutes daily can add up to 1.5 years in a child’s school career.

2.      Cellphones – Cellphone use is not allowed during the school day. Students can use their phones in the morning before the first bell and then after the 3:15 bell. If there are times when you need to get a message to your child, please contact the office.

The Faculty and staff of Cook County Schools cordially invite you to our 2019-2020 School Year Open House for all students, on August 28th, 2019 from 3:30 – 6:30. During this time the teachers will be ready to welcome you into the classrooms and help you learn about the upcoming year. We all look forward to this night as meeting you child is the reason we are in education and love our school.

Feel free to contact me with your questions heading into the new school year. The most effective way to reach me is by email at [email protected] or 218-387-2271 x603.

Thank you for your dedication to your child’s education and I look forward to another wonderful year at Cook County School!

Sincerely,

Megan Myers
