District 6 - Two Harbors area - From the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources - July 24, 2019

CO Anthony Bermel (Babbitt) worked ATV, OHM, fishing, and boating enforcement and attended in-service training. Time was also spent transferring reports and evidence to the county attorney for a trapping case. One pair of teenagers from Iowa were cited for underage drinking and for giving false information when they gave false birth dates. Other enforcement action included OHM violations and operating a jet ski 80 minutes after closed hours.

CO Thomas Wahlstrom (Tofte) spent the week checking anglers and ATV riders. He also armored rifles at Camp Ripley during in-service training. Time was spent on Lake Superior and in the BWCAW.

CO Don Murray (Two Harbors) worked fishing and boating activity on Lake Superior this past week. Fishing slowed a bit this week but a few nice fish were still being caught. During boating safety checks, several inflatable-type life jackets were checked and found to have the CO2 cylinder not installed. Boaters are reminded they have to install the cartridges in a newly purchased vest for it to provide floatation when activated.

CO Mary Manning (Hovland) spent a busy week at Camp Ripley. She received training and trained at the current Academy.

CO David Schottenbauer (Silver Bay) worked angling activity this past week. He spent time checking boaters on the water and at accesses.
