Community members were welcomed at an Open House held by Cook County Public Health and Human Services Wednesday afternoon confronting the issue of mental health in Cook County.
"What is the one thing we could do to improve mental health and well being in our community?"

The question was presented to community members interested in serving on the new Advisory Council for Adult & Children's Mental Health. As they entered the Community Center they wrote their ideas on a sticky note and added them to the board for example:
"peer support"
"skills and knowledge for friends and family to become more helpful/understanding"

Alison McInttyre welcomed community members Wednesday interested in learning more about mental health in Cook County.

Alison McIntyre, PHHS Director was pleased with the turnout at the Open House which she said was meant to be informal with current council members on hand to assist with questions and share ideas. Heidi Doo-Kirk, PHHS Board Chair was also in attendance.

At 4:00 there were already 11 people at the Open House.  Applicants for 2 year terms on the Advisory Councils are accepted on an ongoing basis with positions filled as they become available.
