From the National Weather Service - Duluth - April 30, 2019

More than a foot of snow fell on Monday in at least one location in Cook County, with close to a foot elsewhere in the Arrowhead, the National Weather Service reported.

Sawbill Canoe Outfitters near Tofte had 15.5 inches of new snow on the ground as of 7:30 p.m., said Kirsten Chaney, a meteorologist with the weather service’s Duluth office.

Between 10 inches and a foot of snow were recorded at locations near Grand Marais and Finland by 6 p.m., according to the weather service.

Elsewhere, 8 inches was reported in Silver Bay, and just under 5 inches northwest of Two Harbors.

At the National Weather Service in Duluth, less than an inch of snow was reported.

It’s probably not the end of the snow, Chaney said. A system is coming through on Tuesday, beginning with rain in the afternoon, followed by a rain-snow mix later on and all snow after midnight.

However, lesser snow accumulations are expected, Chaney said. Up to 3 inches of snow could fall along the North Shore. The Twin Ports could see an inch or two of snow.
