Update: Vikings advance to face Lakeview Christian Academy Wednesday

Section 7A #7 seed Cook County Vikings defeated #2 seed Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans 43-39 to advance to the semifinals of the Section 7A Tournament on Saturday afternoon at UM-Duluth.
The Vikings will play the Lakeview Christian Academy Lions on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:15pm at Romano Gymnasium at UMD.
Lakeview beat Ely 62-60 on Saturday night. The other semi-final game pits Deer River vs. Northwoods Wednesday at 5:45pm. Stay tuned to Boreal Community Media for more information about the upcoming games.
The game was a see-saw affair with the teams trading baskets throughout the second half. The game was tied at 30 points a piece with 9:21 left. The Vikings had regained a 36-32 lead with under 6:35 remaining. The Vikings played tough defense in the closing minutes but the Spartans closed the game to a one point deficit with under 4 minutes remaining. The Vikings rallied in the closing minutes to take a 40-37 lead with 1:23 remaining. Then held on with clutch free throws by Will Ramberg and Jordon Porter in the closing seconds.
Will Ramberg led Vikings scorers with 20 points, Ray Gordon had 9 points, Jordon Porter had 8 and Pete Sutton contributed 6 points
The Spartans held a four point, 24-20 lead into the locker room at half-time. The Vikings had no attempts at the charity stripe in first half.
The Vikings had previously beaten the Spartans 68-62 in Nashwauk on February 22, however the Spartans were the #2 seed vs. the #7 Vikings in the tournament.
