Media Release from the U.S. Forest Service - March 1, 2019

DULUTH, MN. (March 1, 2019) Beginning Monday, March 4, 2019 at 9 am CST, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service will reopen the process to reserve Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness quota permits on Recreation.gov.

The Superior National Forest has been working closely with the Recreation.gov team to test the system and conduct training with cooperators to ensure the website is ready and functioning properly, as well as ensuring visitors will have a fair process and equitable access to apply for permits to the BWCAW. The Forest Service recognizes the world class recreation opportunities of the BWCAW and is confident that the reservation system will function correctly on March 4.

Quota permits for the BWCAW may be reserved through the season to September 30. Full details on the reservation process are located at https://www.recreation.gov/permits/233396
