February 27, 2019 – At 6:25 am today, Sheriff’s Office 911 received a call from property owners at 1233 Gunflint Trail, reporting a fire outside of the exterior boiler structure on their property. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Maple Hill Fire Department and STOP Team, along with Grand Marais First Responders and North Shore Health Ambulance responded.

Upon arrival, flames were visible shooting out of the top and around the boiler structure. Firefighters were able to suppress the fire by 6:50 am and began clearing the scene at 7:29 am.

No injuries were reported, and no medical transfers were necessary.
