A fire broke out Friday evening at a ski resort in Iron County.

Around 6:15 p.m. Friday, the Iron County Sheriff's Office posted to its Facebook page that the main lodge of the Whitecap Mountains ski resort in Upson was on fire and firefighters were on the scene.

No guests or staff at the hotel or those inn surrounding private homes were injured, according to a Facebook post from the Whitecap Mountains Resort. The rest of the hotel was without power for several hours, according to the resort's post.

"Thank you for all the kind words of support! We will rebuild! #whitecapstrong," the resort wrote in its Facebook post.

Just before midnight, the resort posted that continental breakfast would be served Saturday morning and the ski lifts would be open.

The resort is located in Upson, not far from Hurley, which has been dubbed the "snow capital" of Wisconsin.
