Two adult males and a teenage female are in custody relative to the slaying of Joshua R. LaValley.

The 33-year-old Aurora man was found dead on the Mesabi Trail, just east of Kerr, by a snowmobiler around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. LaValley was identified by his fingerprints.

On Monday night, two adult males had been arrested.

Deshon Isreal Bonell, 18, of Hibbing, was taken into custody by Hibbing Police Department (HPD) and agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) at 2506 Second Ave. E. around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Anthony Emerson Howson, 20, of Hibbing, was taken into custody at 2514 Third Ave. E. and booked around 11 p.m. Monday.

Both are being held in the St. Louis County jail on anticipated charges of second degree murder, according to the St. Louis County jail roster.

A 17-year-old female, also of Hibbing, was arrested Tuesday, according to HPD. A juvenile’s identity is not public unless charged with a felony.

An autopsy by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office was in progress Tuesday afternoon, according to HPD.

Authorities have yet to address the circumstances leading to LaValley’s death, whether he was moved there and the relationship between the parties. This information and more will be available in the criminal complaint once the three parties are charged.

The investigation is ongoing.

HPD is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Rescue Squad.
