This week's spotlight is on Mrs. Sue Nelson, a teacher at Cook County Schools who leaves a lasting impression on many with her warm smile and caring personality.  Sue has been teaching at Cook County Schools for 28 years.  This year brings a big change for her, as she is now in her first year of teaching special education after 30 years of teaching English.  With a smile, Sue says that the favorite part of her job are the hours (7:30 to 4:00)!

Sue is married to Butch Nelson.  Their son, Kyle, is also quite a famous young man in the community, and loved by many.  She has five siblings.  Teaching runs deep in the blood, as three of them are middle school teachers!

One little secret about Sue that many do not know is that she loves to write 8th graduation graduation rap songs and sing.  (Perhaps we can convince her to do a music video?)

The best advice that Sue ever received came from her mother, who said "Remember that people need to know that they matter.  Continue to see opportunities to validate them".  Sue said that her mother reminded her of this many times throughout her life.

Thanks for all that you do, Mrs. Nelson!
