Brad Shannon walked through the doors of Cook County Schools on Monday, December 10th to begin a new chapter in his life as a Guidance Counselor for the district. According to Brad, “I believe that the most significant part of life relates to our investment in people. I love that my work, along with a fantastic staff and faculty, is focused on the youth of our community”. Brad stated that his desire is to help students succeed in school, but that his true hope and passion is to see the people he works with thrive in live.
Brad is thankful for his wife, Brooke, and their three children who attend Cook County Schools. He is originally from Minneapolis but has lived in various places in Minnesota, including McGregor and Twig. His journey has included time in Chicago and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He is also an ordained pastor and has served in the church for 19 years. For the past 3 years, he and his wife have been running Adventurous Christians, a wilderness camp about 25 miles up the Gunflint Trail.
One tidbit about Brad that may surprise people is that in 2014 he snowmobiled from Duluth (Twig) Minnesota to Churchill, Manitoba on Hudson Bay.
Some advice that Brad received and always loves is that “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift which is why we call it the present.” He will share the original version of this story if you stop and introduce yourself to him, as he received it in a way not fit for publication!
Welcome to Cook County Schools, Brad!
