Mila Horak is in her second year of teaching K-12 art at Cook County Schools.  It is somewhat of a homecoming for her, as she graduated from the very same school that she is now teaching at.

According to Mila, “The best part of my jobs is getting to make art with all of the creative and unique Cook County kids!  It’s amazing to see what they come up with!”

Ms. Mila enjoyed growing up along the west end of Cook County at Cobblestone Cabins.  Her parents are Jan and Kathy.  She has two brothers, Craig and Noah.

One thing that people may be surprised to know about Mila is that after she attended college in Colorado, she and her husband created a coffee farm on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The weather there was too hot for her, so she soon returned to the North Shore.

The best advice Mila ever received was to “Just be yourself - everyone is unique and different – do not be afraid to celebrate your gifts with others!”

Thanks for all that you do for our youth, Mila!
