Media release from the International Lake Superior Board of Control - December 2, 2018

The International Lake Superior Board of Control, under authority granted to it by the International Joint Commission (IJC), advises that the gate setting of the control structure at the head of the St. Marys Rapids will be reduced prior to winter, beginning next week.

The gate setting will be lowered in stages to allow for a gradual reduction in St. Marys Rapids flows and water levels prior to winter.

On Monday, Dec. 3, Gates #2 through #10, #15 and #16 will be lowered to a setting of 26 cm open. On Tuesday, Dec. 4, Gates #11 through #14 will be lowered to a setting of 26 cm open.

There will be no change to the setting of Gate #1, which supplies a flow of about 15 m3/s to the channel north of the Fishery Remedial Dike.
