Media release from Cook County - July 25, 2018

July 25, 2018 – On-site construction will begin today at the Cook County Community Center outdoor ice rink. The area will be fenced off from the playground space while construction is underway.  The first project will be disassembling the hockey boards by Becker Arena coordinated with S & C Masonry and Concrete. Removal of the old concrete will be followed by installation of new concrete curbing.  Becker will return the newly faced hockey boards and reinstall them sometime this fall.

A second construction project will include the removal of the old playground. The playground at the Community Center will be unavailable for use during the weeks of Aug 13 and Aug 20.  Removal of the old playground will be followed up by installation of the new 5 to 12-year-old play space.

“We are excited for the enhancements to these well-loved community assets and look forward to being able to enjoy them when work is complete,” said Diane Booth, Director – Cook County Community Center. “In the meantime, we respectfully ask the community and visitors to please not use this outdoor space during those two weeks of construction and to not park or play near any of the work being done to keep everyone safe.”
