Many of the places we've seen this week have been around awhile.  In some ways weathering, or settling in along the shore.  Now, there's a new kid on the block.

Not even a year old, a gorgeous black and brown house, sits on 16 acres of property overlooking Lake Superior.

"We built our place, it got done in early October of last fall," Luke, one of the owners, said.  "This is the first time we have been on the tour."

Organizers of the Lundie and Vacation Home Tour were happy to add Luke and Stephanie's retreat as a stop and the couple was more than willing to take part.

"I thought the tour was great," Luke said.  "I thought we met a lot of fantastic people."

Their "Northern Retreat" rests up high looking out onto a small island of rock, with chairs positioned just right to take in the breathtaking scenery.

"Beautiful, it is fantastic," Stephanie, a co-owner, said.

For Luke and Stephanie, it's the perfect spot for them to enjoy the outdoors.

"I prefer the cool weather, she [Stephanie] doesn't so much, but we like to hunt and fish, and it's a great place to do it," Luke said.

Their place allows them to take full advantage of their surroundings.

"We hike so we spend the week fly fishing it has been fantastic, good family time"

Inside their house, there is stunning craftsmanship of white granite countertops and gold faucets, that shows their elegant taste.  There is gold accenting the black cabinets as well.

"We are pretty proud of it," Luke said.

Unique light fixtures hang in every room, lighting up spaces that barely need it, since many rooms all share a grand view, letting in tons of natural light.

A beautiful bathroom holds a grand bathtub fit for a king.  Upstairs, there's a cozy crow's nest, with a window looking directly out on the island that is truly unique to this home.  Stephanie and Luke are delighted with how it all turned out, thanks to their builder and architect and help from Stephanie.

"All did a fantastic work," Luke said. "My wife did a good job of putting everything all together."

All the work, has turned into a work of art and Stephanie and Luke are happy to give credit where it's due.

"I think showcasing it is great for the people who contributed to the great place we have," Luke said.

They are happy to share their "Northern Retreat" with others.

"It was a fun experience and we will totally do it again," Luke said.
