Public Health & Human Services:
Applications Now Being Accepted for Community Fund Support

July 3, 2018 – Cook County Public Health & Human Services (PHHS) is accepting applications for programs and services that serve the community through the Public Health Community Fund.

In previous budget years, funding was granted by the Cook County Board of Commissioners to local service providers through the County’s “discretionary” or “non-mandated levy fund”. Approximately $130,000 in funding was granted in 2018, to entities that help support the mission of PHHS including:

  • Cook County Senior Center
  • Cook County Community Education
  • Birch Grove Community Center
  • Legal Aid Services of North East MN
  • Cook County Higher Education
  • West End Connect, and
  • The Volunteer Attorney Program.

For the 2019 budget year, these funds will be assigned to the PHHS Department and budget. As in previous years, a subcommittee of the PHHS Advisory Committee will review applications and make a funding recommendation to the Board of Commissioners.

Cook County PHHS has statutory authority to contract with agencies to provide services that promote public health, safety, general welfare, security, prosperity, or contentment for the benefit of the community that serve a public purpose. Priority will be given to organizations that address equitable access to programs that promote community health and well-being.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Applications are available on the County’s website at http://co.cook.mn.us/2016site/index.php/public-health-documents?task=document.viewdoc&id=432
