May 30, 2018 12:30PM ● By EditorGrand Marais Public Library is set to host a memoir writing workshop at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 7, with Kate St. Vincent-Vogl. This free workshop is titled “Writing Memoir, Writing Life” and is intended for audiences 12 to adult.
St. Vincent-Vogl presented a different writing workshop at the library last fall.
How can you write the best story of your life? Maybe you’ve
started writing but now you are stuck, wondering what to include, what to leave
out, and how to put it all together. This class provides real world solutions
to challenges memoir writers face. Discover tips on how to grab your readers’
attention from the start, how to write effective dialogue, and how to provide
the most powerful ending to your story, all without making anything up. Find
out how to cull your journals and mine your memories—even the hazy ones. And
what must you also consider when telling the family secret? Through writing
exercises and class discussion, you’ll learn the essentials of writing your
life’s narrative so you can bring your concept to completion.
This program, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, is
funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural
Heritage Fund.
