Area fire departments swung into action during training exercises in Grand Marais Saturday as a part of the Emergency Management Conference this weekend.
Cook County’s nine fire departments will be completing a controlled, live-burn training at the site of the former Tomteboda Motel on Highway 61. Throughout the day on Saturday, you may see several fire trucks, firefighters and the Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command & Rehab trailer at the site, along with smoke and or flames. This is just a training exercise.
If you’re interested in becoming a member of any of the County’s emergency services or for more information, contact Valerie Marasco at the Office of Emergency Management at 387-3059.
