Progress Update - Cook County Schools Robotics Team

Jan 15, 2018 06:58AM ● By Editor

Student reporter, David Blackburn, shares some updates on the progress of the Cook County Schools ISD 166 Robotics Team:

Over this past weekend, the sixth of January, a portion of our team got up and met at the school at 6 in the morning to go to kick-off. Kick-off marks the beginning of the robotics season, and is organized in many places around the country to make attendance easier for teams. They show videos and a live feed of the competition reveal. We also picked up our Kit of Parts from AndyMark, a collection of materials that we are given to start off the season.

After getting back to the school we opened up the Kit of Parts and began brainstorming ideas for our robot. We have a design and are beginning our prototyping now. We hope to have the parts we need to complete some components of the robot within the next week. After that we’ll be ready to move on to further stages of our building such as: coding, wiring, and prototyping the robot as a whole.

A local community member, Doug Sanders, came in and offered his time to help us with whatever he could. We took his offer enthusiastically and welcome anyone else who is willing to do the same. We appreciate all the help we can get!
