Board begins public discussion of 2018 budget

The preliminary levy for Cook County will be set and made public on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Meanwhile, the county board started public discussion of the budget process during a meeting Aug. 8. The initial discussion focused on the budgets for the highway department and sheriff’s department.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Board Chair Jan Sivertson about the 2018 budget process, the preliminary levy and other topics from Tuesday’s meeting.
Note: WTIP regularly interviews the Cook County Commissioners following each meeting of the board. These interviews will now air on WTIP at 7:30 a.m. during the Daybreak program the day after the board meeting, which will be the Wednesday after the board meets. They will air again during the North Shore News Hour at noon and again at 5 p.m. on the Thursday following all meetings of the county board.
