Hello from Bearskin!
Summer activities are in full swing here at Bearskin as Mike and Heidi Pazlar begin their 2nd summer season. It's been an incredible year for the Pazler's as they have met and greeted return guests as well as newcomers to Bearskin. Kristin, our activities director, has an awesome variety of programs for our guests, young and old alike! She is here Monday through Friday and has morning and afternoon activities. Check out our picture, this group of enthusiasts are painting T-shirts using stencils, leaves and their incredible imaginations!
With our warm temperatures the fish are on the move! Guests are catching small mouth, walleye and northern in depths of 5-12 feet. The anglers have been using both crawlers and leeches with a slip bobber. Our guides, Dave and Chris have been busy showing our guests special fishing holes as well as filling them in on some useful tips. Dave has also been hosting "Fish Talk" after the Monday Welcome Picnics.
Our maintenance crew has been busy with outside projects. They have already begun cutting and splitting firewood for the winter months. The Main Lodge is in the process of being painted. Cabin 7 and 9 were finished earlier in June and are looking great! Our outside planter boxes and hanging baskets of flowers are gorgeous.
We all welcomed new staff member Ewelina from Poland last week! She traveled from London to Chicago then onto Duluth to be met and driven to Bearskin, all in one day! She is settling in to life in the woods and all of us thoroughly enjoy her. Welcome Ewelina!!
More NEW ADDITIONS..... we have added more kayaks this summer for our guests to enjoy in our bay area! There is no charge to use these. Due to very popular demand we have added a 2nd pontoon boat to our fleet. It is being broken in today!
Our gift shop is fully stocked and awaiting your visit! Hope you enjoy the gifts we have chosen this year.
No newsletter would be complete without mentioning Chef Sally and her upcoming meals. You will note in July that we are offering something new on Thursday evenings, "Family Night". Sally will be serving one entree, warm bread, and a salad for $12.95 and for children under 12 $6.95. Baking Day on Sunday is busy in the kitchen as Sally prepares rolls, breads and pies for our guest. Remember is you arrive on Sunday to call in your baking orders! The Monday Welcome Picnics are a smash hit again this summer. It's the time when staff and guests come together to share a meal....and homemade ice cream!!!
