Most of our trips last 4 to 8 days and are centered around kayaking and camping. However, many variations of a "multi-sport" tour can be organized with a usual 3 to 6 day kayak /camping section in the Reserve. We also offer trips centered around birding, ecosystem study, kayak certification /specialization or whatever your group would like to focus on.

|
Our daily itinerary is loose, as we believe most people prefer to have a say in what they would and wouldn't like to do. In general, people spend the first night in town and are then boated out to a base camp (usually an island or narrow peninsula, offering varied locations for solitude as well as group activities). Kayak orientation and instruction are ongoing throughout the trip. |
Daily group outings range from:
a paddle to nearby ibis and roseate spoonbill rookeries,
boat trips to snorkel off the reef,
exploring more remote bays or islands with frigate, pelican, flamingo,
woodstorks, and possibly manatee,
paddling - or walking - explorations of long strips of deserted coastline,
ample time is always available for independent exploration,
and hammock time!

Climate is dry with a 65-90 degreee max. temp. range (sea breezes make it very pleasant).
Occasional Nortes (storms coming from the north) pass through, carrying cooler low
pressure systems from the U.S. These typically last 2 to 3 days at most, bringing some
rain and wind but still very mild weather.
