What We Offer
As a small, quality ecotourism business
in the Mexican Caribbean, we provide the guiding,
outfitting, and servicing for you to bring groups to explore and study the vast, remote, and unspoiled Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. We also offer some trips of our own.
Our trips run with anywhere from 2 to 10 participants, with an average of 4 to 6. We offer some scheduled trips each year that individuals can join, and we also create custom-trips in partnership
with:
educational institutions specializing in Marine Biology
or other tropical habitat fields,
paddlesports & biking outfitters, clubs, and stores,
couples, families, and groups of friends or colleagues,
...to be imagined!
While some lodging is available in the village, kayaking and camping offer not
only full immersion in these tropical ecosystems, but a more adventuresome
experience.
Some basic paddling experience is preferable, although no specific sea
kayaking skills are necessary to enjoy these trips. Any needed
instruction will be provided at the outset and be ongoing throughout the
trip. We have single and tandem sea touring kayaks available, plus a
small catamaran sailboat and 25' support motorboat with a 40 horse motor.
Additional motorboat resources are available with local fishermen.
Our staff includes a cook, boatman, and your guide, Jim Holzman. We rely on locals for all other resources as well.
For the camping trips, the first and/or last nights' lodging could be in
Punta Allen, our base village. Comfortable 2 and 6-person tents and camprest bedrolls and/or
handwoven hammocks with mosquito nets are used in camp. Tables and chairs for dining, and separate bathroom facilities with solar showers and porta potties make this a very comfortable camp set up. Meals are fresh
and prepared in traditional Mayan fashion, with rice, beans, tortillas,
salsa, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lobster or other seafood daily.
While you may certainly not be coming here in priority to eat, we guarantee food will
be a memorable highlight of your stay!!
Good quality mountain bikes are also available, be it for a day trip on some jungle road, or for part of a more extensive multi-sport tour you would like to organize.
Our services enable you to focus on the objectives of your trip while we focus on your
daily needs and overall support systems.
