Cook County Higher Education Mentorship Program
What is mentoring? Mentoring is a supportive relationship between an individual and a student
to facilitate the student's educational, business, social and personal growth and development.
Who should request a mentor? If you need assistance with a college class,
Cook County Higher Education provides free professional support through the Mentorship Program.
CCHE contacts retired professionals in your course of study, and helps you make arrangements with the mentor of your choice for
your study support.
A mentor can help you with:
- Understanding course content
- Study skills - how to study, how to take notes, and how to prepare for tests
- General organization skills
- Technical skills for online courses
If you feel like you are getting behind in your course, please don't wait! Contact CCHE right away so we can link you with
someone who can help you stay with your class. If you are struggling to keep up, then you should give us a call!
This is a free service, so you should take advantage of the opportunity to excel in your class.
Mentors are paid a stipend for their time thanks to grants from the Cook County Community Foundation, the Beim Foundation, and
Cook County.
If you are interested in sharing your knowledge, skills, education, and experience by being
a mentor, please contact Cook County Higher Education, (218) 387-3411
