High School Students for Higher Education
Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) for High School Juniors and Seniors via Distance Learning:
To take one of these courses, you will need approval from the college and your high school counselor.
In addition, you will need to fill out PSEO paperwork and go through an application process that may also involve taking an Assessment exam. The exam can be taken at the CCHE office - you will need to contact CCHE to make the arrangements. Note: Some courses are only open to high school seniors! Contact the college or university and find out which courses are available to you before you apply!
Adults may also wish to take a look at these listings, too! There are an amazing number of courses available that you can take right in your home or office!
University of Minnesota:
The University of Minnesota has some online courses in addition to their large selection of correspondence courses. The only online courses open to
high school juniors or seniors are Introduction to Psychology and University Writing and Critical Reading: Perspectives on Multiculturalism. The rest of their online courses are upper division classes. As a high school student,
you will have to fill out a PSEO application form, which is available at Cook County Higher Education or at the guidance office at the high school. If you are a high school senior considering a correspondence course, keep in mind that it takes at least 9 months to complete the class because of timelags with assignment mailings! Fall enrollment should give you enough time to complete the course prior to your high school graduation, but a January enrollment will not be sufficient for May or June graduation.
