The following links provide information on the Minnesota Firewise Grant, which has been established to assist county property owners improve the defensible space around their homes. Grant Details and Application Information Cost Share Matching Funds Form Cook County Mitigation Grant - Unassessed Areas (Schroeder, Tofte, Colville, Grand Marais & Arrowhead Trail) The Cook County Firewise program has just received a firewise community grant from the State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to complete wildfire hazard assessments throughout the county. The main purpose of this grant is to educate homeowners on how they can reduce the risk of fire damage to their home and property in the event of a wildland fire.
