The following links provide information on the Minnesota Firewise Grant, which has been established to assist county property owners improve the defensible space around their homes.

Defensible Space Cost Share Grant Information

Updated 09/01/2010:The MN DNR has extended the funds of this project to September 2011. If anyone would like to partake in this 50/50 cost share program for Firewise Mitigation in Cook County, please contact us to schedule a meeting with our grant coordinator.

If you currently have a mitigation plan in place, please remember that reimbursements are not guaranteed and secured. They are distributed on a first-come first-serve basis. We strongly recommend that you complete your mitigation plans as soon as you can and contact the coordinator to sign-off and approve payment for your reimbursement.

Remember to send in your Cost Share Matching Funds Form as soon as you have completed your project. Payment cannot be made without this document.
