Pincushion Mountain Family Ski Festival
The Pincushion Festival is a great opportunity for fun for the whole family, even the dog. Events range from a challenging 32km classic race (good pre-Birkie warmup), to 10km ski tours for both skaters and classic skiers, to kids’ races and ski-jouring races. There’s a comfortable chalet where you can watch the races, with hot drinks available. For the fat-tire bikers in the family, there will be fat-tire bike demonstrations all afternoon, and then an adventurous after-dark FTB trail ride. All trails (skiing and biking) are expertly groomed with natural-only snow. There are spectacular overlook views of Lake Superior and Grand Marais throughout the trail system. Pincushion is located just outside Grand Marais, so for both locals and visitors there are all sorts of nightlife options for a fun Presidents’ Day weekend vacation. There are also abundant other outdoor recreation options nearby to make the most of your long weekend. You can find out more about all the stuff going on in Cook County at VisitCookCounty.com.
