Fall into Art: Family Weekend

The Art Colony hosts family activities for all ages over the MEA weekend. Moose bucks from the Visitors’ Bureau are awarded for participation!
Mask Making | October 20 | 9:30 am – 11:30 am | Free
Select from one of several animal masks and decorate it with your own, unique look.
Paint-a-Tile with Joan Farnam
October 20 | 10 – 11:30 am OR 1 – 2:30 pm
Tuition: $20/session | Pre-registration required
Explore the colorful world of majolica glazes by painting your own tile. Joan will give an overview of these ancient glazes, including their origin and properties, and demonstrate majolica painting techniques. Then students can pick out their tile and paint it with their own unique design. Tiles will be glaze-fired and available for pick-up Sunday, October 23.

Create a one-of-a-kind print on a plexi-glass surface and print it on a professional press.
Glass Coasters with Mary Bebie
October 21 | 9 am – 12 pm and 1 – 4 pm
Tuition: $35/session | Pre-registration required
Toast your drink glasses by giving them a beautiful place to rest and learn about kiln-formed glass in the process. Mary will teach techniques, including glass selection, cutting, and composition, and each student will create four, 4 x 4-inch coasters. Pieces will be kiln-fired and available for pick up the following day.
Make-a-Bowl for Empty Bowls with Hannah Laky
October 21 | 3 – 4 pm and 4:15 – 5:15 pm
Tuition: $5/session | Pre-registration requested
Help make bowls to donate to the Empty Bowls fundraiser, working to alleviate local hunger needs while learning the basics of pottery. Open to all levels and ages.
