Build your own Wooden Mallet: Tool making for kids!
Kid's Course
The wooden mallet is a simple but valuable tool for any maker’s toolbox. Leather needs tooling, timbers need pegs pounded and tools may even need wedges in the handles. What could be better than using tools to make more tools?! In this class students will learn about tool safety, wood grain, harder and softer woods, and how to make a handle fit just right in the tool and in the palm of the craftsperson’s hand! Students will also have time in class to learn about different types of mallets and practice using them on various projects, from timber framing to leatherworking. No previous experience necessary.
