GRAMMY-winning co-founder of Carolina Chocolate Drops
Dom Flemons, co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, is a GRAMMY-Award-winning musician, singer/songwriter, and slam poet. Carrying on the songster tradition, he blends traditional music styles including ragtime, Piedmont blues, spiritual, southern traditional, string-band, fife and drum, and jug-band music, with a contemporary approach. He tours throughout the United States and internationally as “The American Songster.”
In 2016, Dom performed at Carnegie Hall for a Tribute to Lead Belly and at the opening ceremonies for the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC. His newest album, to be released through Smithsonian Folkways, will celebrate the stories and songs of the black cowboys.
