Conditions:  Poor

Continued warm weather and intermittent misty rain have further deteriorated the trails.  Dan groomed a few loops on the north side of Flour Lake as well as the west end of the Logging Camp on Friday.  Those areas that are sheltered have decent snow cover but there are numerous areas with just an inch of base left or bare ground altogether.  Any sun or warm weather will take out these thin areas.  The 7-day forecast is for above normal temperatures so it looks like yesterday's grooming will be the last one of the season for Golden Eagle.

Conditions: Excellent

Comments: We were out last evening before the cold set in and groomed all the trails on the north side of Flour Lake as well as the west end Logging Camp, Ridge Run, Upper Beaver Dam, Moose Pasture, Wolf Point and the North South Link between Aspen Lake and Golden Eagle Lodge. Trails have set up nicely over night with good classic tracks and a firm base for skating.   It looks like average February temperatures through the weekend so get out and enjoy the trails and take in some activities for the Winter Tracks Festival!

Comments: We are out with the snowcat today.   We will be grooming the west end of Logging Camp, Ridge Run, Moose Pasture, the north side of Beaver Dam, the North South Link from Aspen Lake to Golden Eagle, Wolf Point, Red Pines, Cross Fox, Deer Mouse, Moose Ridge and the Logging Camp along the north side of Flour Lake. The 2 inches of snow we received was perfect; just enough to freshen up the woods and pack in on the trails nicely.  The base is firm for skating and tracks good for classic skiing.

Conditions:  Very Good. The snow this past week was a welcome sight.  It started with a little rain, then a wet heavy snow and then a fine dense snow.  It took crews a few days to trim branches that were infringing on the trail from the snow covered branches, but the trails are groomed and ready to ski.  We have 20-24 inches of snow in the woods and with the snow covered trees it is like skiing through a winter wonderland.

Considering the amount of snow we have, the skiing is holding in there. Last weekend the trails took a bit of a beating with the warmer weather but we had a trace of snow here and there plus another inch of snow Tuesday. The guests this week have all enjoyed their time on the trails.

Conditions: Good

Comments: We were happy to receive an inch of light fluffy snow overnight and we’re out grooming this morning. By the end of the day we will have groomed Wolf Point, the west end Logging Camp, Ridge Run, the North South Link from Golden Eagle to Aspen Lake, Red Pines, Cross Fox, Deer Mouse, Moose Ridge and the Logging Camp on the north side of Flour Lake. Guests have been enjoying the skiing this past week but it’s nice to be able to freshen up the trails. The more moderate temperatures forecast for this week should make being outside very enjoyable!
