Vikings take two varsity basketball wins from Two Harbors

The Cook County Vikings boys basketball team upped its record to 4 and 0 with a win over Two Harbors Tuesday night in Grand Marais.

And, the Vikings’ girls moved their record to 3 and 1 for the year with a 68 to 35 win over the Agates.

In the boys’ game, Colin Everson hit five three-pointers on his way to 23 points as the Vikings won 62 to 25.

Kale Boomer had 12 points for the Vikes while Lars Scannell added 7. Justin Goldstein and Peter Warren had six each while Richie Furlong had 5 and Rory Bakke hit 3.

In addition to being 4 and 0 for the season, the Vikings are 2 and 0 in the boys Polar League.

Theresa Morrin lit up the basket for 24 points to lead the Vikings in the girls’ game. Kaitlynn Linnell scored 13, Leah Utities had 12 and Breana Peterson scored 10 to cap off the double-figure scoring. Jami Sjogren had 3 for Cook County while Kaylee Cronberg, Shauna Blake and Lily Gruber-Shulz had two points each.

In addition to being 3 and 1 for the season, the Vikes are 1 and 1 in the Polar League girls’ play.

Thursday night, the Vikings host the Esko Eskomoes.

At the request of Esko, there has been a switch in times.  The girls will now play at 4:45 and the boys at 6:30
