Vikings Move On in Playoffs and Brea Boomer scores 1000 point!
The Cook County Vikings improved their record to 19-3 with an 88-19 win on Thursday night over the Wrenshall Wrens. The Vikings fell behind 3-0 after a Burcar free throw and Ellerbe layup but then went on a nice 50-0 run to put the game away. The Vikings went into halftime with a 60-9 lead. Senior Brea Boomer and junior Ashley Deschampe led the way with 18 first half points each.
The Vikings went on to win 88-19 and advance to play the AlBrook Falcons in the Section 7A quarterfinals in Hibbing at 2:45 on Saturday. All Vikings played and all scored. The 2nd half was highlighted by Boomer scoring her 1000th point when she was fouled, went to line, and calmly drained a free throw to put her at 1000. Boomer is the 2nd player this year to eclipse the milestone, joining Deschampe who hit it earlier this season. She is the 7th girl in school history, the 5th in the last 5 years, and the 3rd girl in the last two seasons to reach it.
