The Silver Bay/Cook County Squirts headed to Moose Lake for an 8 team Squirt
B tournament. The Squirts began early on Saturday with big 8-0 win over the
home team Moose Lake. This shutout game for Cook County Goalie Cameron Roy
also included goals scored by Cook County players Josh Prom, Ethan Sporn,
Connor Somnis, solid defensive play by Andrew Miller and great passing plays
by Riley Somnis and Jake Bilben.

Game two of the day turned out to be more comptetion for the boys from a
tough Duluth Heights team. The boys were up quick to a three zero lead but
Duluth Heights came back scoring two of their own goals. This game ended in
a 4-2 victory for the Silver Bay/Cook County Squirts and put them in the
championship game for Sunday afternoon.

Game three on Sunday and for the championship did not disappoint. The boys
were a little nervous going into this game as they were up against a very
tough Ely team that they had met earlier in the year. That earlier game
ended in an 8-5 loss for the boys so that was definitely on their minds when
the puck dropped. In what the Coaches call their best game of the year, the
Squirts held onto a two period lead of 1-0. The start of the third period
brought Ely two quick goals and took the wind out of our sails. The boys
played tough and even down three to one in the final minutes, Connor Somnis
put Silver Bay/Cook County back in the game with beautiful breakaway goal.
The score was now Ely 3, SB/CC 2 which is where the game ended. The boys
proudly took home the second place trophy! Goalie Cameron Roy saw 38 shots
in net during this game, which was hard fought all the way though by all
