Searchers find missing man along Temperance River
The Cook County Sheriff's Department reports a man missing on the Temperance River on an inner-tube trip has been found alive.
The dispatcher confirmed the man was found alive and dehydrated Friday morning along the river in the West End of Cook County. County Search and Rescue personnel were called out around 6 AM to search the area after the man was reported missing by friends.
The search also included a US Forest Service Beaver aircraft which flew along the river corridor. .
According to reports, the 50-year-old was inner-tubing on the river Thursday afternoon down from the Temperance River Campground on the Sawbill Trail. He was expected to meet friends at the 600 road bridge.
His friends report he never arrived. They contacted the Sheriff’s Department for assistance.
The Search and Rescue team used the 600 road bridge as their staging area. In addition to the Forest Service aircraft, Tofte Fire and Rescue personnel and a Cook County Ambulance crew joined in the search and rescue..
