Cook County makes the most of seven hits in 5-1 victory over Silver Bay
Cook County and Silver Bay each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but Cook County capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-1 win at Silver Bay.
Silver Bay got nine hits compared with just seven for Cook County, but Silver Bay stranded 14 on base.
Kale Boomer reached base three times in the game for Cook County. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fifth innings.
Dylan Quaife worked out of seven tough situations for Cook County. He pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run on nine hits. Quaife faced his toughest moment in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and two outs. He induced Cody Larson into a groundout to 8th grader Rory Bakke to end the rally, though.
The game's last lead went to Cook County thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by Quaife.
Cook County got one-run rallies in the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, Cook County scored on an RBI single by Boomer, bringing home Gunnar Anderson.
Cook County added two more runs in the top of the seventh. Mike Sjogren kicked things off with a triple, scoring Boomer. That was followed up by Colin Everson's single, plating Sjogren.
Silver Bay scored its only run of the game on a groundout by Kohler in the seventh inning.
