Brian Sherburne resigns from School BoardSubmitted by wtip on Mon, 03/24/2008 - 10:16am.
Brian Sherburne of Hovland announced that he is resigning from the ISD 166 Board of Education District One seat. The resignation was included in a letter sent to district constituents and county residents Monday morning. Sherburne said it is with “great regret” that he resigns the position, stating that the amount of time needed for the position is far beyond what he expected and that it has cut into his business. So far his customers have been supportive, he said, but as the economy slows, he can no longer afford to risk additional financial losses. Sherburne also noted that he cannot afford to put in the personal time the position requires. “The challenges of today’s education are going to take enormous efforts of forward-thinking individuals who are willing to discuss the hard issues and not just look at the current challenges,” Sherburne said. He extended his appreciation to those who supported him on the board and said he hopes that everyone will support his successor and the future of the Cook County Schools. “The future is our children; let’s give them the best.” The ISD 166 board will now have to fill Sherburne’s District One seat, which covers the East End of Cook County including Hovland and Grand Portage. |
